Umm because I have $1.2m of pre-marital assets... We may be moving outside of California to a state where appreciation on pre marital assets is considered community property. If that's all the prenup/postnup is supposed to say, what's the point?EDIT:
Based on comments, I decided to pursue a prenup. However, the family law attorney said I should do a post nup instead of a prenup. She says the reason is because the wedding is 5.5 weeks away, and that the law firm needs 3 months to prepare a prenup. The prenup would only state that Id want to keep pre-marital assets and appreciation on premarital assets separate.
Should I do a post nup stating that pre-marital assets and appreciation on premarital assets remain separate, or try to find a law firm that can get a prenup done in 5.5 weeks.
