Personal Consumer Issues • Need some car guru feedback -- Should I call it quits on this car?

Lets say I've got a 14 year old Honda Civic with almost 200k miles. It's my spouse's car and the AC blew out. The car had a bunch of work done over the years, and just about every year we've had repair bills of 1-1.5k for the past 3 years. The problems were pretty random occurrences (axle replacement, brake booster replacement etc..). We're looking at another 1k bill now for AC.

It's hot here and its not going to be comfortable driving this car. I don't think the car owes me anything at this point and I could probably get 1-2k for it, but feel bad as it drives fine, just doesn't have AC (for now). I know I will need new tires, and in the near future need to get the pulleys replaced along with the thermostat and water pump. This is easily 2k worth of work.

Should I just call it quits now and buy something new? I can afford it but also realize that buying a new car might not be the best financial decision. I am also looking into cheap EV leases or a used Tesla at a discount.

What do the financially inclined car gurus think?
I'd let it go, but I am surprised you have been paying 1-1.5K every year. Do you live in HCOL area? Otherwise, maybe you are taking car to dealership?
