Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Life Crossroads - advise request

I read through your question twice, but I could not understand why you would want to go anywhere in the first place? Is it that you´re bored where you are and looking for excitement?
Little bored...I peaked really early in my career. I did some testing at 25 years old that many people wait their whole lives to get a chance to do and never get to. So now, I am struggling to find a challenge.

Also, a coworker that left a couple years ago recently visited and it seems like the move really worked out for him - he had similar concerns and is from Ohio originally.

Also, the weather here is harsh, the bugs bad, and i feel like my kids are missing out on some childhood fun I had that they cant due to local fauna. Cant go swimming in the ponds and lakes here, poisonous snakes and spiders everywhere, etc. It makes me happy seeing them free to roam when we visit family.
Yea, well, it seems you´re way ahead of where you need to be in regards of money, so I dont see an issue shifting priorities from money and career and all that to something you and your family enjoy. I know SO MANY people who are unable to shift priorities even though it makes them deeply unhappy to follow their old priorities. I think adjusting to a new situation is massively important. You´re good on money. Good on your career. What are you still doing there? Go where it makes you happy and dont waste precious lifetime in a place where apparently you dont want to stay any longer.

If you needed the Boglehead collective approval on this plan, I think we´re all happy to give it.
