Personal Consumer Issues • Constantly breaking toilet seats

One of the toilet seats keeps splitting. I was wondering if this could be the material. The current batch of seat appears to be some sort of foam type plastic. I wonder if it would be better to get one made of hard plastic or wood. Of course there could be other problems, perhaps the mounting is loose etc. Wonder if anyone have had this problem?
Plastic with "soft close".
Bemis: Amazon avail.

It's the less expensive Bemis "wood" ones that break. They never used to, just in the past few years. I usually buy them from my local Ace hardware.
