Personal Finance (Not Investing) • letting friend borrow car for 4 months (in Canada) [Insurance coverage]

I believe you have to keep it insured if it’s registered to you (has a license plate). You could put it in storage and notify usaa it’s in storage and qualify for a reduced insurance rate and coverage but you can’t have the car driven.

When you move your car to a new locale and new country, your car insurance may require you to inform them.

To keep it simple, I’d prob leave my insurance in force and leave the car with my friend while I go on my trip.
