Not sure where OP is located but I can say that in the southeastern USA, it gets pretty hot such that buckets or any other pots will quickly become very hot with direct sun on them. Daily watering will be required for your plants to stay healthy, not wilt, and produce fruit. If you have a sunny patch of ground, use that instead.
I've seen other folks use whole wheat straw bales to plant tomatoes in and do well. They retain moisture better and won't get as hot as a bucket.
