Personal Investments • Mortgage Payoff vs Taxable Account - What else should I consider?

Op I have really enjoyed the updates. I love seeing a plan in action. Any temptation to cash out a bit of the investments and pay down the mortgage considering the market has been on such a tear over that last 18 months or so?
If anything, I've been more tempted to invest more. After taxes, I'm probably getting 3% on the money market and CDs, and it would be 2.1% to pay the mortgage off directly. Why not invest the whole thing in the total stock market?

I made a resolution though that we're sticking to our plan no matter what. If the market has a big downturn, we have a lot of money going into retirement accounts so that's great in the long term. If the market continues to fly high, we'll have extra funds when it's time to pay off the mortgage so that's great in the shorter term. I stuck to the plan 18 months ago, when markets were down, and it's been great. Really, every time I've stuck to a plan when it comes to finances, it's gone really great. It's when I don't stick to a plan that trouble brews...

Thanks for the note, I'm glad the topic has been enjoyable for you!
