No desire for idle whimsy or provocation. I’m absolutely serious. We scrimp and save for decades, abide the bear-markets, act patiently and quietly, while others are boisterous and impulsive. For what? Just to spend, that which we’ve gathered and nurtured? If the up-arc is only met by down-arc, why bother? Marley’s mistakes are cautionary tale for a stilted polemic; an agenda… told beautifully, but signifying – what?I think unwitting_gulag has been yanking everyone else's chain, apparently with some success given the replies.
And if not, well, perhaps he is Jacob Marley's ghost, who said to Ebenezer Scrooge: "I wear the chain I forged in life."
