Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Rule of 55: But need advice.

You and spouse have hefty balances in retirement accounts so I think its reasonable to start withdrawals as soon as its reasonable to reduce the tax bomb effect. What will your wife gain by working till age 65? Maybe its okay if she loves her work or is trying to maximize some type of pension or retirement benefit but maybe its time to smell the roses together.
Thanks for your reply. I am on my wife's platinum workplace healthcare plan. If I do get SSDI, that automatically qualifies me for Medicare at at 59. I then need to decide between my wife's plan vs Medicare.

My wife does love her work...she's 8 years away from retiring.
You might be eligible for Medicare, right now. There is a “kidney dialysis” exemption in the Medicare eligibility rules. I think if you’re on dialysis, at any age, you are Medicare eligible. https://www.medicare.gov/publications/1 ... e-esrd.pdf

I’m no expert though. But thought this would be worth looking into for you.
