Keep up the negotiations and bargaining skills.It seems the older and wealthier I get, the more ridiculously high some of the quotes I get are. Recent examples include chimney cleaning, drain unplugging, and house cleaning. I’m too embarrassed to say the prices paid.
The trap laid by the drain and chimney guys was that they could be done now if I signed right away. The price is ridiculously high, because they know you can afford it and that you just want to be done.
I think if you call folks out in a reasonable way, it makes us feel better and makes it more likely we get a price break.
Some folks just don’t ask, or get weird about asking for cost comparisons, price matches.
