While I've been a big fan of Toyota in the past, I'm staying away from Toyota at this point because I do not believe I'm getting what I am paying for from their vehicles right now at MSRP. And there are blatant price gouging with thousands in dealer markups on top of "TSRP" as if it is to be expected. I just laughed at them at walked out. I never overpay for anything.
These are different times, and I no longer associate Toyota (or Honda for that matter) with reliable and cheap to own vehicles of the past. The vehicles are more complex now and are prone to failure. I buy extended warranty when buying new and especially when buying used - it doesn't matter what brand.
The good thing is, cars in general seem to have improved and many cars seem to reach 100k miles or more.
Still do my research of course, but I no longer see the need to stick with Toyota or Honda any more.
