I'm new to Medicare and never heard the Advantage plan called a supplement plan but have heard it call a replacement plan. I was just putting my thoughts out there because for some people this is very confusing.Yes. My point was that historically, both were called supplementary insurance, so that the best way to communicate the name of the product unambiguously is to include the term "Medigap" or "Advantage" when describing the respective products. Some people still call their Advantage plan a supplement.
In a broad sense. yes they are supplements but act differently.
