The goal may be different for different people. Have a few accounts and actually they serve different purposes. For instance, Vanguard is easy to move money in and hold treasury fund (VUSXX) that find superior to available funds at Fidelity and Shwab as far as after tax yield. Some brokers will let you move/hold certain funds between them. ETFs can ACAT easier between brokers. Many might suggest avoiding brokers that you feel have risk of not being solvent! There are bonuses at reputable brokers like Citi, Chase, Wells Fargo, and Etrade, etc.
If Citi is a reputable broker, seems like any of them who utilize Pershing (or Apex) would be.
