Not one iota.
My crypto/meme stock FOMO lasts as long as my lottery FOMO. The media conflates luck and inherited wealth with skill and intelligence. I don't need to. After a 35 years of investing and working in the industry I'll give my guidance to my kid and they can do with it what they will -
- Live below your means and never buy stuff you don't need. The opportunity cost of stuff is very high.
- Buy the market as cheaply as you can and take a long term view. The more money that's working for you earlier the better.
- Trying to outsmart the market is an expensive mistake. Just because an industry depends on it doesn't mean you have to do it.
- Help the less fortunate.
- Buy your old man a beer once in a while, once you're old enough of course.
