Please don't put a deposit on a car which hasnt been found yet, or one that you have not yet test-driven. The actual car, not another car of the same make and model. 'Cuz you never know.

Are you saying you would require the dealer to located the car, have it shipped to him, then you test drive it - all before you put any money down?

Yes, I am.
In such a case, if the OP rejects the car after the test drive, the dealer can surely sell it to someone else less discriminating. They won't be stuck with it.

Yes isn't it standard practice to be able to drive a car before committing money?

Unless this some sort of special car.

OP are you comfortable saying what Make and Model and year you're interested in purchasing?

Maybe there's a different standard if we are talking 2024 Lamborghini vs 2023 Ford Fusion?

EDIT: ps what does it mean for the dealer to 'find' a car in the internet age?
