Personal Consumer Issues • Is it worth traveling 3 hours to see the solar eclipse?

I must have had it perfectly in 2017. Sat on the edge of a large river bank, with a river aligned with the path of the umbral Shadow. You could watch the dark shadow approach you while sitting on the riverbank, enjoy totality, and then watch the darkness sweep away.

It would be an 8 hour drive for us now to see the eclipse. We were tempted to do it, and even got a hotel room but then canceled it yesterday. My hips can't take 8 hours in a car.

It is definitely worth seeing, but I think being on a river and seeing the approaching shadow and its departure made all the difference. That was actually even more interesting than the eclipse!
