The near-unanimity of responses to not share the advice, which sadly is most likely the best approach, as well the underlying reason given for not doing it, really underscore how deeply rooted pride is in the human psyche.
It’s rather mind-blowing to me. For me personally, as long as the letter was written kindly with supporting details/logic to back up the statements, I would love to receive it! There are so many things in life I had to learn the hard way too late, and I wish someone would’ve told me sooner. But that’s me, always looking to learn and to hear others experiences and perspectives. Not that I would blindly accept or reject the advice, as I trust my own analytical abilities. But it would get me thinking and possibly open my eyes to something new, which is always a good thing.
But in my experience, most people pridefully shun unsolicited advice. Seems to be human nature. Doesn’t say much for humans.
