Consider 1 or 2 Aluminum canes. Adjustable length. Use the ends to hook on tree linms or if someone needs help. The curved end is easier on your hands. My body is at the point where I am starting to need hiking poles when going down steeper inclines with roots and rocks. Last year, I started to notice my knees were starting to get a little sensitive on certain descents; I don't expect improvement at this point. I'll use these about five to six times a year, on hikes that are more vertical at this point.
Don't want to spend a lot of money, but want a reasonable product. I have looked at Costco - they have the Cascade Mountain Tech carbon fiber trekking pole 2 pack for $80. They have cork handles and tungsten carbide tips which is something I am looking for.
Is this a reasonable "starting" pole to use? I also see that the poles extend from 26" to 54", but not sure if they collapse even further for easier storage (like in a backpack when not needed) just to have just in case as well as easier car storage?
Thanks.

And allowed on airlines.
And inexpensive.
