If he is a single man, why are you assuming he has children?Might that be a short-sighted way of looking at things? Yes, if you defer SS you are drawing from other sources in its place in the near-term. But don't forget to plan for the long-run. Your financial picture might be better for you when you are in your 80s if you defer SS. And something that is better for you in your 80s might also be better for your children because you are in a better financial state to pay for services needed as you age. Thanks for the reply's. I'm a single man so the surviving spouse does not come into play. An additional factor is my burn rate would be far more manageable should I take ss now.
What does OpenSocialSecurity say is optimal for your situation?
Do you have any reason to suspect your life expectancy will be different from the average person?
Stock markets are quite high right now. It is actually a great time to take withdrawals instead of collecting early SS.
