Personal Investments • Why I prefer multiple asset classes to the BH 3 fund portfolio

The portfolio construction advice here at the Bogleheads is intended for the "vast majority" and not the contrarian minority. It is dogmatic, very opinionated and rigidly prescriptive. This is a "feature" and not a bug. Like all advice, I take what I find is useful and discard the rest. What do I find useful advice at the BH? Low-cost index funds, prefer simple vs. complex, avoid extraneous fess/costs (especially wealth managers, etc.) What do I find less than useful? Pretty much everything else. You don't walk into a church and try to convince them that their beliefs are somehow lacking right? And if you do it shouldn't be surprising you get forceful push-back. Instead of appealing to the converted I find it better to find others of "your tribe" (i.e. other forums/communities). Anyways - that's my contrarian two cents...
That's a good way for a 'contrarian' to never have to challenge their 'contrarian' views (for some people it seems 'contrarian' is the point anyway... but yeah, its everyone else who is dogmatic)
