Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Is Del Mar, CA worth the cost?

IIRC, Solana beach seemed similarly priced to Carlsbad and Encinitas. Oceanside a bit cheaper, but not much.

Much of what people would consider "Del Mar" is actually in Solana Beach or other "environs". And the Del Mar zip codes extend further than the limits. (Del Mar Heights is not Del Mar, for example).

Developers often apply variations of the Del Mar name to projects east of I-5 within the City Of San Diego. Thus you get shopping centers, office parks, and residential developments with Del Mar in their name and more perceived prestige than Carmel Valley. So that's another way to save money. "Del Mar adjacent" is definitely more affordable than City of Del Mar.
