Personal Consumer Issues • AARP/UHC Medigap policies

Thanks for the replies!

I do realize that states regulate insurance pricing but companies can ask for more than the state will allow and may appeal the state's decision (not sure if this is even allowed. Seeing an overall picture of what they may go up vs no info is why I'm asking. Seeing low increases is a goo's sign IMO.

We are thinking plan N as it's almost as good as G but our initial savings will be about $50/month for me and about $30/month for my wife. After asking this here my sister called me and told me one of her specialists doesn't accept the Medicare amount and she was charged $60 in excess charges - the first time it has happened to her.
I've been happy with AARP/UHC for more that a decade. However I did have an experience like your sister's. There is no help when that happens as no one enforces it at least in my case. The guy was a crook in my opinion. I suppose I should have started checking any new doctor, but it was so unique I haven't.
My sister is going through a big health issue and is seeing a Doc in NYC that is part of a team. Everything she has done with the first Doc was covered by Medicare except her $20 co pay. They came up with a decision that, at least at this point, the issue is out of the scope of the first Doc and he passed her to this other Doc. For the second Doc she just assumed it would be the same but it wasn't. I think we all get into a situation where we can't know everything and have a bigger issue than cost. Yes, going to a new Doc we can look up things but in the middle of a situation, probably not. I have left a Doc due to not liking the way his practice was run, I would do the same with costs unless doing so was detrimental to my health. Hindsight is always 20/20! Image may be NSFW.
Clik here to view.
