Personal Consumer Issues • My computer has 8GB of ram. Would I make it faster by adding a 8GB stick or a 16GB stick? I only have one slot open

This is one of the cheapest ways to improve performance in most cases. Just put the 16G stick on and move on with your life.

Whether or not to match the sticks will not matter for you, and neither will the $10.
