Idea. In recent past, a BH was trying to replace a dumb phone (provider no longer supported old phone) with a newer dumb phone (supported, but
still dumb to thwart smartphone security concerns).

During this time, I learned that newer dumb phones are now smarter than previously, but still cheap, so could be a viable option instead of an expensive smartphone. Something to consider:
--When I need to replace my smartphone.
--Or if my powered-copper landline provider annoys me to much.
The benefit of this idea is that dumb phones are cheaper than smartphones.
Idea. You could port your COMCAST VoIP number to a low-cost cellphone provider.

Connect cellphone provider's plan to low-cost dumb phone with bluetooth connectivity. Should be <$50.

Use Cell2Jack to connect (bluetooth) your cellphone to your wired home phones. Should be <$50.

After this setup, your monthly charge should be only for the cheap cellphone plan.
The benefit of this idea is that your phone service (1) does not depend upon your PC being on (2) nor internet connectivity.
Backup plan: phone service during a power outage.
--Since this setup depends upon your home's AC power, you might want to connect it to a UPS system ($$$).
--Or you could recharge dumb phone from car battery/battery bank ($$) and use it without connecting it to your wired phones while power is out.
