Love the West Wing. But you have to take it like Stephen King on coke. Both writers had phases where they were taking a lot coke. And West Wing happened to be it.I tried to watch The Wire a number of times over the years, but always quit (kind of like The West Wing where the dialog was so “inside baseball” that I couldn’t get into it). BUT, with two of my most respected reviewers speaking so highly of it, maybe I should give it another shot. One of the few series I have watched multiple times and own on DVD.I'm in Season 5 of "The Wire" and I'm blown away by how good Jamie Hector is in the role of drug kingpin Marlo. (He's J. Edgar in the Bosch series). Love his subtlety. You end up craning your neck to catch every one of his facial expressions.Just started the Bosch series on Amazon. Really enjoying it. I've read a few of the Bosch novels by Connelly years ago.
But my absolute faves in The Wire are Omar (Michael K. Williams) and Bubs (Andre Royo) -- two memorable characters.
The series has some very creative storylines, portraying Baltimore from a number of different angles.. Glad I waited to watch the series, as it's perfect for a time where there isn't much you can call "great" on TV at the moment.
For those who haven't watched, the profanity is equal to "Succession" times 100. But you get used to it.
"Y'all ain't got no Honey Nut?"
"Stringer" Bell and "The Bunk" were also quite memorable among others.
