The answer will depend on what type of siding. Please provide this informationOne of our houses has a 12 year old paint job and it's starting to show. Storms and wind and sun have taken a toll. I've never had to do a whole home exterior paint job, so I'm not sure what to expect.
1. how often does exterior paint generally last? (our house can get hit with lots of sun and wind)
2. are there any particular brands that last longer/are worth a price premium?
3. how do you find a good contractor? (there's a company that goes door to door to give free estimates, but they have painted many of the houses in my area and they seem to have done a good job)
4. do you get all of your windows/doors re-caulked? There are a few that definitely need to be done, but should I ask for all of them to be done?
5. can you replace single pieces of siding?
re #5, there was a satellite dish mounted on the siding at one point and several holes drilled into the house for different utility runs/screws to mount things that are no longer there. I've caulked them and/or filled them with spray foam, but it looks bad. Can you replace a single piece of siding without having to take it all apart?
