Agree the Membership's only privilege is you do not need to book. Plus the Member's RoomWe went to the China exhibit on a membership admission which has now expired.I don't know if this works for you, but we have annual memberships (I think a membership allows self + 1 guest) - and that includes tickets to all the Special Exhibitions and you don't need to book. And it gives you access to the eating area on the first floor (ie 2nd) in the Members' Room. But we live here.
Made no difference whatsoever. Had to queue outside to get in to security, had to queue to get in to the exhibit itself and, as I said, we couldn't even get near the exhibit cases for the phone photographers.
$30 might not be exorbitant as a charge, but it's a bit stiff if you don't enjoy the experience!
It's not sold out, as the China show was. As of this morning, I would have been able to get tickets for a weekday at 10a.
Many thanks for your report.

(given the risks re terrorism, I would never expect to get through security any quicker).
There weren't any queues to get into the Exhibition. It was very busy inside.
It sounds like the Legionnaires one is not quite as popular. Weekday AM would do it. Or, as I say, 330pm and afterwards. I think we spent about 45 minutes going through.
