That's impressive, considering you consider yourself a 'financial amateur' and have a household income of 140k.

I don't think you are overly risky. Your assets will need to last a good 40 or more years, so I'm not sure how much more conservative you want to go below 75/25. It may be different if you were to have enough money to draw down at a very low rate (3% or below), in which case, you have more leeway, but if it is about 3.5-4.5%, I'd say something in the neighbourhood of 70-75% is a good range for such a long investment time horizon.

I'm not sure I'd change much of anything within your investments, really. You have almost entirely growth assets in super, which is the way to go, and you have balanced that by having all of your defensive allocation outside super, which lowers the risk of market volatility when drawing down outside super before you can access super.

If anything, I'd mainly just be ensuring that your life insurances are in place and your estate planning (wills and super binding death nomination) is done. Your investments seem perfectly good to me.
Thanks Andrew. I definitely consider myself an financial bonehead. Whilst i have always been a saver, I wish i started paying more attention to investing earlier in my life. Its a skill i hope to continue learning and hopefully pass on to my kids when they are old enough. I owe a debt of gratitude a work mate who encouraged me and your website.

It seems my situation isn't as bad as i initially thought.

Do you think its a reasonable plan over the next year or two, to start gradually start to diverting funds new funds to VGAD and also some additional cash. (this way we don't trigger CGT by performing a large re-balancing now)
