Personally I would take the package but I think you need to alter the above thinking. Get your resume together and start looking for a job immediately. You never know… A good job with decent benefits could take many many months to find and landing something sooner would be a nice “problem” to have.
Yeah, consider that it’s also easier to find another job when you have one currently.

But depending on financial needs and your skillset that may not be such an issue, so weigh that against the benefits of taking a few months off to regroup.
