Personal Investments • Purchasing an ETF on the ex-Dividend date

Yesterday was the ex-dividend date for VTI. I made a mid-day purchase. How do I know whether I bought into the dividend or not?

I always thought it was ownership on the record date that mattered, in this case, they are the same, 6/28/2024.

I don't know if the ownership is considered transferred to you on the trade date or the settlement date. I guess you'll find out soon.
