It works, but it'd be nicer to have a large-format EPG on my TV---vs small-format EPG on my smartphone.

Can your phone be used as a WiFi hotspot?

If so, a used Tivo Roamio w/ lifetime service that has antenna tuners (some Roamio models have only cable tuners) off eBay is what I'd get.

The above downloads about two weeks of program information & you can initiate a manual connection to retrieve that guide info.

So it doesn't need a continuous internet connection.
