Try putting the dehumidifier onto a heavy duty timer and running it for three or four different periods of the day in the "always in mode or a low a humidity level as possible,so it doesn't cycle on and off.
This will only work if your dehumidifier has a startup memory on it.
My results are at least a 50 -70% decrease in power consumption and humidity levels are somewhat constant in my instance in southern Vermont running it for three different sessions for 2 hours each day.
Make sure you use a grounded heavy duty timer!
