Just heard from Standard Life who are offering to preserve the discounted fee negotiated by my former employer. This equates to an annual cost for the pension of 0.18%. This seems to be a pretty good deal is it not?
If 0.18% includes fund fees (which I suspect it does) then you have a good deal. If you move to a SIPP, fund fees alone would be 0.12% - 0.22% p.a.
Plus on top of fund fees you'd have to pay platform/service fees which for SIPP start at 0.15% p.a. (e.g. Vanguard, Invest Engine), or pay fixed fees that starts at £90 p.a. £90 p.a on £50k is 0.18%.

With a £50k SIPP you are looking at minimum 0.27% p.a (0.12%+0.15%). Saying that, if you are not happy with L&G funds, it could still be worth moving.
