I do not break out any of this on my budget, current or projected. The house costs what it costs: $8-9k in taxes and then utilities, insurance, etc. The only thing I've eliminated is the mortgage, which is $2k/month and almost done. Everything else is the same (save capital projects/renovations). Our pension and eventual SS payments will easily cover our basic/core expenses of $80k.We are mortgage-free and spending that.140k is not hard if you are paying off a sizeable mortgage during retirementI'm curious to know if there is anyone here who spends around $140k/year as a couple: actual spending, so after taxes.
That is what we have budgeted for. It's likely too high (and includes $40k/year for travel) but we also will have a large ($55kish) pension in four years.
Our current spending (with two tuitions) is over $200k.
The house still costs us about $19,000/year including property taxes, HOA fees, insurance, utilities, and basic maintenance (like a recent hot water heater repair).
