Indeed. My grandmother, an immigrant, put her teeth into a jar every night before she went to sleep. My parents worked very hard (retiring at 70) and both died with a full set of teeth.Crazy. Thanks for sharing. Two years ago we used a dentist who had just upped her fee for a routine visit from $95 to $125. Very reasonable. Degree from a top dental school.
We moved, got a recommendation from an in-law, and, for whatever it's worth, our new dentist charges about $225.
For the first time I thought "maybe we're overlooking something" with dental insurance. According to her literature, she "takes Delta Dental," and I was momentarily excited to find that seniors in my state can get "Delta Dental" for only $259/year.
Uh... yes, it's "Delta Dental." But they have multiple plans. And guess what? She doesn't take that one. And the cheapest one she does take, "Delta Dental Premier," costs, guess what? $600/year.
Medicare doesn’t value teeth. To the OPs point, dental care is only for the rich. A sad state of affairs for the richest country on earth
I have more than one friend who had a tooth pulled rather than pay for an implant.
