Personal Investments • Do you invest on days when market is down ?

Market is up more than 5% on the year so I would have moved much earlier. All the other stuff I buy when I need it and not before.

There wasn't any money left to "move earlier" so that is entirely irrelevant. Buying other stuff when I need it at the last minute as opposed to when its on sale is expensive and reduces the amount available to invest.

A month ago the market was 5% more expensive than it was now, so this month it makes sense to hold off on other purchases and try and stuff some more in while its on sale.

over the years I've found if I buy something thinking I might need it results in spending money on things that never get used. Maybe it is just me. So I stopped doing it. It also makes it a lot easier to get organized when it comes time to move - which we did a lot -- saves all those trips to the recycle/dump/Goodwill getting crap out of the house.

I think it was the spare vacuum cleaner part that did me in. But they came 2 to a pack and the device would never live long enough for a third one.
