The best investment is in one's health.

I've been doing CrossFit for the past 20 years, but not sure if it's best for my health at 40+ years old.

Can you recommend exercise programs for longevity?
So, I started doing CrossFit in 2019 at 48, still doing 4-5 sessions a week at age 53. Stronger than ever and in better shape than ever. I would keep going with it. There is always the option to scale some of the movements if needed. My heart rate is the same as a 30-year-old athlete, according to my latest checkup.
Of course, a lot of walking and swimming is great as well, especially if you can do some hill walking.
The good and bad thing about CrossFit is the community encouraging you to push yourself to the limit. You can make fast gains this way but also injure yourself. Scaling back and limiting yourself sounds like it'd work well. If your typical AMRAP is 50, maybe stop yourself at 45 or 40. You obviously enjoy it. I'm assuming you're concerned about injury risk as you get older.
I am and the workouts are extremely intense but as you said, there are always scaling options. There is a couple in their early 60's who have been doing it for a long time and I have never seen healthier and stronger people at their ages in my life. We have a couple pregnant women in the gym now doing the workouts, though obviously scaling a lot while always getting in a fabulous workout. That being said, I have had to deal with tennis elbow, golfers elbow, and a shoulder impingement but anybody in their 50's doing any type of intense exercise is open to some of these inconveniences.
