I'm 59 (DW 58) and we've been retired almost 2 years now. My regular expenses (bills and travel) have been covered by my SS and pension so I haven't had the need to touch my IRA at all.
All of my IRA has been sitting in CDs of various maturity lengths earning roughly 5% as I wanted safety and didn't want to stress about investments.
But now that the interest rates are coming down and some of my CDs are maturing, where should I invest? I'm mainly interested in at least matching the inflation (obviously better if I can beat it
) and capital preservation.
Our expenses probably will increase as we travel more so I am anticipating the need to start withdrawing from our IRA eventually. Oh, and we don't have any children so we want to spend down our savings.
I have about $1.8M in TIRA and DW has about $300K in her TIRA.
