There´s no direct flight, so you´ll have at least 1 stopover. Then again, you´re spoiled for choices. My recommendation: Buy a "premium economy" seat on Cathay Pacific (with stopover in Hong Kong) or either JAL or ANA (with stopover in Tokyo). All three are awesome airlines that fly circles around any Western airline, stopover in scenic cities and such a roundtrip would set you back ~$2,500 per person. If you fancy business class, which I think is not needed on these carriers, it´s about $5,000.
Since you´re flying Westwards the jet lag will be a lot more benign. I find 12h to the West easier than 6h to the East (e.g. Europe). You may be surprised how easy this is. I personally find 1-2 day stopovers more hassle than relaxing but YMMV.
