I don't understand what you're asking for: just avoiding multiple embedded quotes, or just quoting a single giant post when you're only replying to part of it. I've often edited quotes just down to the part I'm replying to... and sometimes that results in a complaint that I quoted out-of-context. This is a no-win situation.Would it make sense to have a rule or guideline/suggestion against quoting massive posts, especially if they include a lot of history not needed for the response or include pictures or if the response is only a few lines or words?
Apologies if this has been discussed before.
EDIT: add "or guideline/suggestion". If so, it could include instructions on how to edit quotes.
