Personal Consumer Issues • How to discourage fraud by service techs

the service tech came this week for annual maintenance on my whole house generator (yes, I could do it myself, but choose not to)

He explained upfront what he would do and approximately how long, and how many times the genset would start up.

at the end, in addition to the invoice I got pictures of each step, before, after and during. This was the first time I had gotten this, and I asked him when it started. He indicated they had put that in after getting complaints about incomplete work and/or skipped steps. So now everyone has to document everything. The pics go to company and customer

My shameless HVAC contractor said they are implementing a new policy where all workers provide photos proving, at least to their employer, they have completed the key steps in a procedure. Then if a customer asks, they can provide them.

My pool guy provides a photo of my pool every time he visits. I told him that was useless and I would rather see the chemistry worksheet. He said some customers out of town were complaining they didn't think the pool guys even visited when they said so they had the photo with time stamp proving they were there.
I can change the date / time on my camera. I assume that this is not possible on a phone?
