Over age 60 or 65 physical declines can happen at any time. That decline can be the result of a sudden medical incident or develop inexorably over time. If you're already "comfortable" in your assets/income waiting for higher social security benefits can be useless if something develops and you don't have the health or mobility for that higher income to add value to your life.
