Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Do FAs bring any value at my level?

1. No extra return unless you're doing a lousy job. The worse you're doing on your own, the more value they can provide. At a certain point, they might even provide more than you're paying.
2. No. Why would you pay five figures to a FA and then spend all day chatting about it on an online forum? The point of a FA is so you don't have to hang out here and learn all this stuff yourself. If you like being here, there certainly is no reason to also hire a FA.
3. Seems like you're doing fine to me and besides, even if you wanted a second opinion you could get an advisor that does that for an hourly rate rather than hiring a "full service" advisor as though you were a delegator. You aren't. At most you're a validator, but probably a DIYer like the rest of us.
4. The going rate for full service is $5-15K a year. Paying 1% for $3M+ is a huge rip off.
