I am guessing you are not a golfer.. Have you priced clubs and green fees? PickleBall is a cheap hobby. Where I play, courts are free, and if you buy a $250 paddle and play 2/week that paddle only costs $2.50 each time and you buy a new paddle each year.

answering from the perspective of a boglehead, if you pay $25 for the paddle it only costs 2.5 cents each time you play.
