Remove a single stock from both (NVIDIA) and I believe S&P has out-performed FSPGX YTD.What are your thoughts on Large Growth index funds? I have been considering FSPGX from fidelity. It has been generating nice returns, better than the s&p 500. I know that won’t last forever. Seems to me it could be a good investment or am I better off sticking with s&p index? Does anyone own FSPGX? What are your thoughts on it?
You can certainly invest if you like. Consider that FSPGX has 45% of its holdings in just 5 companies and, as you note, you would be effectively "buying high" and hoping for continued success.
Keep in mind the turnover. FSPGX's turnover is 7.5x FXAIX's. So while recently FSPGX has been more tax-efficient, it distributed capital gains distributions of 1.74% in 2021 and 1.17% in 2020, which are separate from dividends. Who knows when the next one will happen, but something to keep in mind.My goal is looking at funds that don't spin off dividends event if they are qualified dividends - unlike the S&P 500 index fund.
