Personal Consumer Issues • What frugal thing did you do today?

Bought my car 11 years ago this month. It is still waiting for its first car wash of any kind. Received a natural one last night, being in a driving rain for about 40 minutes last night on the way home.
Impressive. So if birds do their business all over your car, you just let it be? How about sap from trees, road salt if you live in a cold climate? Mud?
Not doubting you, I just like to keep our cars clean. Historically I have washed them by hand. Road salt eats our cars so a wash here and there helps prevent rust.
Definitely let all be!

I do have a garage and only drive 4,000 to 5,000 miles a week. Therefore for an extreme high percentage of the week .. the car is just sitting in the garage.

I do live in Western Massachusetts where road salt is used. My street is a main road where is the first one to get plowed. Also, tend to stick to other main roads. Does that give me more or less exposure to road salt?

This is my fourth Honda Accord in a row and the first one that I've not had to spend money on rust remediation. Spent quite a bit on that for the first three (1984, 1986, 1995). Thought that, perhaps, they'd finally solved that problem by 2004.
