I would not assume this is the best policy for your needs given it sounds like you do not own a car, do not drive, own a rental property, and own vacant land. This puts you in a special case situation, general cookie cutter advice does not apply. The benefits counselor at your employer may or may not be qualified to help you through those specific situations. Have you talked to your homeowner's policy agent or insurer about adding an umbrella policy and been told they can't do that? Generally employer offer insurance ends when your employment does, and sometimes your employer might switch to a different benefits coordinator or decide to no longer offer the policy you have. For an umbrella policy I think it would be best to detach from your employer even if you think your job is very stable and they haven't changed their benefits plan for decades.
Insurance agents in places like NYC or DC where it might be more common for a high income person to not own a car will know how to handle your situation. If you are in a place where it is uncommon for high income people to not own cars I can see how it might be tough to find someone to help you.
Do you have or need professional liability insurance? Do you own a single family home or a co-op/condo? These are all the types of factors that need to be discussed with a competent agent or call center rep.
