Personal Consumer Issues • Former Windows users? [Considering a switch to Mac]

I have a 7-year-old Dell XPS that I thought would last a decade. But Microsoft thinks that's too old for Windows 11, so I went shopping for a new computer. (My kitchen table laptop, a 13-year-old HP Elitebook, does just fine on Minr Linux after I realized it was too sluggish for Win 10.)

The Elitebook, like my brand new HP Elite Mini, are aimed at the business market and thus make it easy to upgrade the storage (HDD/SSD) and memory. Most consumer machines make it difficult or impossible to do what should be simple upgrades.

I considered the Mac Mini, but I really don't want a product that is not upgradeable and was wary of learning a new OS. Instead, I got the HP Mini pre-loaded with Windows 11 and ended up climbing up a new OS learning curve anyway. Mostly, as far as I can see so far, there is little in the way of improvement (maybe more secure?) but a lot of unnecessary cosmetic change.
