Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Penna. executor's fees for handling will?

Thanks for the replies. The estate is about $1M and he's saying 200K of that is going to fees which he listed as inheritance tax (4.5% so that's 45K), lawyer's fee, misc. fees like public notice fee, and his executor's fee. For that to be 200K sounds awfully excessive to me, esp based on what I'm hearing and reading. I hesitate to ask for a breakdown as frankly he's copped an attitude about the whole thing and has serious anger management issues in general, but if push comes to shove, I might...not because I care about the money per se, but I do about him and/or the lawyer (or someone else perhaps, though I can't imagine who) screwing the rest of the family (the estate is to be divided equally among all siblings). There are no income tax considerations.

This is ridiculous. I agree in hiring the lawyer, but I would try to get the other siblings on board because I wouldn't want to be the only one filing the complaint.
