Because of limited time due to random school-related issues (assignments, etc.) she didn't call VG again. And her credit union option turned out to be a bust.
At my urging, she was going to call Fidelity to see if she could open and fund a 2023 account today; and if not, just fund a 2024 account instead.
But, she checked VG one last time today (after checking this weekend) and was able to transfer from her bank account and fund her 2023 Roth.
I'm guessing it was a 7-day hold that started after she called and faxed her ID - NOT 7 days after she verified the account (which was almost a week prior - I confirmed she'd followed all the instructions for verifying and saw that the account said it was verified via a zoom call after reading comments on this post).
